Harvest House
In 1987, Father Louis Putz, CSC of Notre Dame noticed many retirees had much wisdom, health and special talents which should be harvested for the church and community. He requested of the National Council of Catholic Bishops to enrich the lives of older adults and to tap into this resource. Bishop Eugene Gerber responded by inviting Father Putz to Wichita. While here he met with the Catholic Charities director and also during this visit the first group was organized. This was St. Margaret Mary Center in 1989.

The St. Jude Harvest House Group enjoyed a special Christmas program presented by Mrs. Michot & the school choir singing Christmas carols. They were accompanied by Mrs. Leonard. It was a joy to listen to the children. After the program, a delicious lunch was served by Mary & Pat. Sister Marilyn and Father Doug, along with 23 members, were able to attend. It was a wonderful Christmas celebration. Because of the weather and illnesses, some of our friends were not able to attend. We will keep them in our thoughts and prayers and hope they will be back with us in January.
