Liturgy

Liturgy Planning Committee

The Mission of the Liturgy Committee is to provide an environment whereby the Masses and other liturgical ceremonies are celebrated in such a way as to touch the mind, heart, and soul of every member of st. Jude. Representatives from the Music Ministry, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, and Art and Environment meet with Father to determine directions for special liturgical seasons; Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and Ordinary time.

Altar Servers

The Altar Servers Ministry is open to ALL girls and boys currently in the 6th, 7th, & 8th grade who are members of the parish. All servers must go through a training session. Special arrangements for training may be made for those individuals new to the parish. Any further questions should be directed to the parish office.

Ministry of the Word - Lector/Commentator

As a public reader of scripture, the Lector proclaims the Word of God. Lectors rotate in the roles of Lector and Commentator. Orientation and training for all Lectors is held once a year, usually in the fall.

Lector List 2006

May 10th to June 18th Schedule

Music Ministry

Liturgical musicians are called to minister to the "people gathered" by inspiring them, through music, to celebrate Christ's dying and rising. The Music Ministry is open to parishioners who are willing to share their talent in vocal and/or instrumental music, and at the same time exhibit a willingness to work with others, learning and growing in the understanding of liturgy. Those interested in music ministry are urged to contact the Choir Director. Choir rehearsal times and other information of interest will be posted in the bulletin.

Offertory Procession - Gift Bearers

The gifts of bread and wine, along with our weekly offering, are brought to the altar at each Mass on the weekend and Holy Days. The gifts represent the offering of ourselves to our Heavenly Father. The offertory bearers represent each one of us as if we each brought our own gift to the altar. Any family or group of individual parishioners may volunteer to bring up the gifts.

Ushers

Ushers assist the priest and parish by performing various duties at the weekend Masses and Holy Days. Members are scheduled on a regular basis to assist parishioners to seats, distribute bulletins, organize the offertory procession, and perform general cleanup after Mass. Any member wanting to become an usher, please contact the coordinator.
