Social Justices

The purpose of the Social Justice Committee is to help meet the basic needs of those in our parish neighborhood. The committee has many areas of concern including helping and visiting the sick and elderly, helping families in crises, working with the youth, Pro-life, ministries for persons with disabilities, assisting the school with the uniform bank and monitoring legislative developments that affect social justice. Membership is open to all who are interested in this committee. Meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month following evening mass in St. Theresa's room.

HO, HO, HO!!  Thanks to everyone who came and helped make the Breakfast with Santa a success again this year.  The Social Justice Committee made $1200.00 on the breakfast to help those in need in our Parish community.  There is a lot of work behind the scene that goes on to make this breakfast possible.  Thanks to all who pitched in and helped to pull this off.  The Knights of Columbus outdid themselves again this year with a wonderful breakfast.  The bake sale had a really nice assortment of candies and goodies.  And the little ones got to talk to Santa.  A special thanks goes out to Santa Claus for taking time out of his busy schedule this time of year to make an appearance at St. Jude.   We are truly a blessed parish.

Thanks also to those of you who adopted a family or donated items for the Adopt-A-Family for Christmas program.  We were able to help 23 families from our surrounding neighborhood area.  Eighteen of our families had parishioners deliver Christmas to them and five of the families came and picked up their Christmas gifts.  We had some parishioners donate children’s clothing and toys which went very quickly to fill our families’ needs.   There was a real feeling of thankfulness, lots of tears and emotions from our adopted familiesas they received their Christmas gifts.  This year is tough for so many people.  We continue to be blessed by the generosity and love of our
parishioners.  We are always in awe of your generosity and humble to know that none of this could be possible without your support.

On a cold day like today, we certainly feel warm that so many people have a warm coat to wear from our coat drive earlier this fall.  May you all keep a warm feeling in your hearts and have a Happy and Healthy New Year.

Parish Nurse Office

A Parish Nurse Volunteer is available each morning to take blood pressures, answer health-related questions, and help make referrals to community resources. She also helps in coordinating transportation, visits and meals to the sick, elderly, and new mothers.

Pro-Life Committee

The mission of the St. Jude Respect Life Committee is to be a force in promoting the sanctity of human life. We do this by promoting traditional family values in our parish and community. We encourage all to Pray and Fast that our society will uphold the sacredness of life from the moment of conception until natural death. Father Doug leads the rosary for the unborn on behalf of St. Jude Parish on the third Saturday of the month at 7:00 A.M. at the abortion clinic, Kellogg and Bleckley. All are invited to attend.

The Lord's Pantry

The Lord's Pantry is a program supported by the parishioners of the parish to help supply; groceries to those in need. It consists of a group of volunteers who shop for, sack, and distribute the groceries. It relies totally on donations from the parishioners for funding. These donations come in many forms such as monetary gifts, memorials, pancake breakfasts, collection of aluminum cans, school and PSR food drives, donations of groceries, and grants. The sacking and distribution of groceries is done on Monday mornings between 8 A.M. and 9 A.M. The Pantry has been blessed with many generous persons who contribute to its success. We can always use more help.
