                            PARISH NEWS

THE CAN VAN is parked in Fr. Doug’s drive way every weekend.  We can take aluminum cans only please, no foil or other items.  The money from the sale of the cans goes to The Lord’s Pantry.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION:  Please save your General Mills Cereal box tops and Campbell’s Soup labels for St. Jude School.  There is a box in the vestibule of the church for them, or you may drop them off at the office.

CONFIRMATION:  Classes will start after the first of the year.  All 8th grade and high school age children who are not going to a Catholic school must be enrolled in PSR!

Help our school get free equipment!   Every time you shop and save your receipt tapes from Leeker’s Family Foods, our school will earn free equipment.  The receipts must be dated between Sept. 1, 2008 and Mar. 31, 2009.  They may be put in the soup label box in the back of the church or brought to the parish office. For information, call Carolyn at 838-0800.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 12049 and the Rev. Philip J. Allen Columbian Squires Circle are sponsoring the annual Basketball Free Throw Championship Sunday January 11, 2009 at 1pm at the St. Jude Gym.  This competition is open to all boys and girls ages 10-14 who want to participate.  Please bring your birth certificate and a parent with you.  Come let’s have some fun!!!  Contact David Close, Youth Director for K of C Council 12049 at 755-3265 for more information.

SCRIP: Buy your gift cards from Scrip and save the hassles of the crowded stores! We have plenty of gift cards in all denominations from $5 to $100. Visit the Scrip table after Mass or the Parish office. Thank you for supporting St. Jude School.  Other Scrip news: We have been getting occasional reports that the Wal Mart cards sometimes don’t work. If that happens, make sure the clerk scratches off the pin number on the back and tries to enter the gift card manually. If you have to, get a manager to help. You can also call the 1-800 number on the back of the card to confirm the balance if there are any questions/concerns. If you still have a problem after that, contact the parish office.  We also get occasional reports that Kwik Shop employees say they can’t give change back on the Dillon’s certificates. If you purchase any product (gas/misc) from Kwik Shop, you ARE allowed to pay with Dillon’s certificates and receive change back. You are NOT allowed to just redeem a $10 or $25 certificate for cash! Any questions or problems, please call the parish office.
